Design Brief - To bring the television remote up to date , making it futuristic , sleek and most importantly its shape has to fit into the complex contours of the human hand .
These sketches are the initial ideas for my final product .I have mainly looked at using biological shapes from nature to ensure a better fit into the hand .
I have chosen to develop the egg shape and create a unique and different look to the previous rectangular design.
My final idea is slightly developed from the last , however its has one very unique and unusual feature , it can be used each way up .By holding it one side you can manipulate the channels and the other way is used for changing settings and making selections . This also stops the users hand from crawling up and down the remote and therefore making this versions use much easier . By doing a simple "flip" thumb movement the remotes features are always in reach .
I have reduced the amount of buttons on the remote by combining them .... for example the 4 directional arrows and central select button has been converted into one scroll ball and click function.
